DEVLOG #03: Struggle & Motivation

Hello everyone! This is the third dev update on NECROSPHERE!

So, it’s been some time.

I’m having an interesting and party painful summer here. I had some interesting Quality of Life upgrades, but with a cost.

In the late June, I bought a new computer that will carry me enough for years, but when I bought it, I started to lose my players randomly. It’s randomly, because we didn’t have any issues. One of them decided to ghost everyone, another one couldn’t handle their schedule etc. I got some help from a friend when I bought my PC, and now I’m still in debt.

In the first week of July, I got poisoned by some food. That kinda changed my life since then. I was somewhere around 130kg to 137.5kg, and the next day I recovered, I started to be careful about what I eat and drink, started to go out, started to do exercises. When I’m writing this, I’m somewhere between 119.3 to 120.1 and I feel like it’s just a beginning.

While having this kind of differences in my life, I kinda started to lose motivation to continue to the book. Actually it’s not a loss of motivation. More likely, I cannot schedule myself properly to have enough time to delve into the writing. I still have lots of ideas, but I also feel like I have a lot of other things to do, and that prevents me to continue writing. I believe that I can overcome this barrier, too, just like when I had a huge barrier about character traits. I couldn’t decide how to write the traits for TWO FUCKING MONTHS! Yeah, that was a crazy blockade! And I managed to overcome it! The current obstacle about the book is creating magick and rituals properly.

So, ready to use parts of the game are:

  • Basic character creation (without magick and other utilities)
  • Enemy creation (still needs to be polished)
  • Standard game rules and explanations (proofreading might be needed)
  • Stories of gods (actually they were ready for 2 years)
  • A couple of iconic characters (currently playable for test games)
  • The first draft of character sheet (have lots of ideas to improve it, but didn’t try yet) (also, there will be a full digitalized version of the character sheet)

What’s on the way, waiting to be completed (not a full list):

  • Final version of a magickal description
  • Weapons, armors, tools (equipment/inventory in general)
  • Two surprise game mechanics (NO SPOILERS!)
  • Creating the outlines of the setting map (I don’t have a map and I don’t like to create them, in big scale)

When I complete the setting, I’m planning to write a couple of short stories to support the setting, too. I don’t know how they will be, but I believe that it will give the correct vibe for the characters, like an example.

I think that’s all for now.
